Origins of the Fair Score Framework.

Background

The Fair Score Framework is based on academic research examining value chain fairness. It was developed to provide a practical, structured tool for assessing fairness across value chains in real‑world contexts.

One of the original Fair Score label designs is shown below. It demonstrates how a Fair Score can be presented to users. The label corresponds to the calculated example on the homepage, where a value chain scores 83 out of 100 (A grade).
